The views of Block Island and the sound played a big role in the design of this house.  The existing summer cottage was getting too small to house the family as children became adults.  Adding bedroom space was important, but so was adding common areas to enjoy the views together.  The second floor deck is accessed by a large hall at the top of the stairs.  Seating and large windows here, let you enjoy the view no matter the weather or season, a must in New England.
